Deleting your data
Last updated: 13 August 2026
This page explains how to have your data deleted from Homescreen, including anything we obtained from your Instagram account. For what we hold, why we hold it, and the lawful basis for it, see our Privacy Policy.
How to ask
Email axel@gethomescreen.com from the address on your Homescreen account, or from an address we can match to your Instagram handle, and tell us which of these you want:
- Delete my account. We delete or anonymise your account details and usage data within 30 days. We keep the library we built from your published content — your posts, captions, images, and the structure we worked out from them — for up to 24 months, then delete it automatically. The Privacy Policy explains why.
- Erase my data. We erase all of it within 30 days, including that library. Nothing is kept except records we're required by law to hold, like invoices.
These are two different things and you can have either. You don't have to give a reason, and we won't ask for one.
If you never signed up
If we built a preview app from your public Instagram posts and you never claimed it, email us and we'll delete it immediately — or tell us not to build one at all. If you do nothing, we delete it automatically after 45 days, along with everything we worked out from it.
What happens next
We'll confirm by email once it's done. If we can't tell that the request is really yours, we'll ask you for the smallest thing that lets us be sure before we act. We'd rather ask an awkward question than hand someone's data to the wrong person, or delete a creator's app because somebody else asked us to.
Fans and commenters
If you commented on a creator's post and want your comment removed from our copy, email us and we'll remove it. You don't need an account with us.
Your wider rights
Deletion is one of several rights you have under UK and EU data-protection law, alongside access, correction, export, restriction, and objection. Those are covered in the Privacy Policy, which also tells you how to complain to the ICO or your local authority if you're not happy with how we've handled a request.
